CLUB HISTORY

As a result of the lack of shooting skills identified within the British Army during the Boer war, there was a strong drive across the United Kingdom to target shooting clubs to improve the rifle skills of the general public.

Following a public meeting in Perth on 16 Feb 1906 Perth City & County Club was formed and a 15-yard indoor range was developed above the Salutation stables. The initial membership was 170 with a membership fee of one shilling.

Between the end of the first world war and 1954 the club used a varity of ranges until finall in 1954 the ground was secured and the present range was constructed. Thus one of the best small-bore facilities in the Country was developed with a unique twotier 25-yard indoor range and both a 50-yard & 100-yard outdoor range.

more recently the range has been modernised with the introduction of a 10-metre air-weapon range with an electronic target retrieval system.

In addition to the ranges, the club buildings comprise a clubroom, committee room, locker room / armoury and kitchen and toilet facilities.
