Safety and Etiquette

What You Need To Know

Until a new / provisional member has been passed as safe to shoot without supervision they must not handle a rifle or air wepon unless they are supervised by a full member or other authorised person.

Apart from safety, which is paramount, good range etiquette is also a requirement.

Whilst shooting is in progress you must remain still and not talk loudly or do anything which might disturb other shooters.  Shooting requires a lot of concentration therefore remain still and quiet until the other shooters have finished.

When you have finished shooting each detail and before the red light is illuminated you must insert the red / green safety plug.  When the safety plug is in the breech of the rifle, it gives a clear indication to other shooters that it is safe.

After you have finished shooting make arrangements with your instructor or the Range Duty Officer to return your rifle to the armoury and for the proper storage of any other equipment.

Ensure that the club register is completed, as this is a record of not only rifles in and out of the armoury but a record of ammunition used and number of rounds left.
